In 2013 over 2100 publications on sarcoidosis and ILD were published according to this search on pubmed. We – scientific community – could aim for 3000 in 2014, but after extrapolating from previous years this seems rather unrealistic. Since 2000 the amount of publications on sarcoidosis and ILD increased with ~100 per year, but since 2010 this started to level off (see figure below). The amount in 2013 even seems rather low although pubmed lags behind quite a lot and 2013 publications will be added to pubmed throughout 2014. We will update this graph periodically to monitor progress in the (near) future!
