Ass. Chief editor

Dr. Wonder Drake, MD

Dr. Wonder Drake is an Associate Professor with tenure at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. As a consequence of her investigation of sarcoidosis pathogenesis for the past 15 years, she has experienced the full spectrum of translational research from the basic laboratory bench to clinical trial applications.  Her lab currently focuses on the role of novel mycobacteria in sarcoidosis pathogenesis, as well as investigates the role of adaptive immune dysfunction on clinical outcome in fibrotic lung diseases. I am currently serving, along with Dr. Gordon Bernard, as PI of a Phase II, multicenter investigation of this same regimen on chronic pulmonary sarcoidosis. I am also serving as co-Principal Investigator of a proposal to assess the efficacy of ventilator HME filters to predict and diagnosis ventilator associated pneumonia. During the past 10 years, I am concentrating more on the transitioning of postdoctoral fellows into independent careers in academic medicine, as well as mentoring Early Career Development Awardees. Ten of 16 of the candidate’s primary or secondary mentees are currently in academic medicine.  I have been elected into the American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI), serve as Director of the Vanderbilt Sarcoidosis Center of Excellence, and Chair of the NIH LCMI Study Section.

Wonder Drake is member of the WASOG executive Committee.
